Functional independence

What is functional independence?
Independence is the ability to perform daily living activities on your own, with minimal or no support at all. This ability begins during childhood and process through adolescence and adulthood.
Independence is important for us in order to manage our routine, education and social interactions. Every person thrives for independence.
During adolescent years, adolescents thrive to become more independent and their need of support from family and caregivers decreases. They enjoy making their own decisions and choices and manage an independent routine.
This important process prepares adolescents for adulthood.
